Humanity has ended, followed by apes. Disease, self-destruction, perhaps their own ambition has led them to forsake planet Earth, or the Earth them. Now the animals have evolved, forming their own societies in the ashes of human civilization. They seek the mystery of Humanity's downfall, idolizing humans as angels, but many have evolved their own belief systems and civilizations.
